Getting to Kalkan: Airports and Transfers

The closest airport to Kalkan is Dalaman (DLM), about 110 km away — roughly an hour and a half by car. Antalya (AYT) is the alternative at about 200 km, roughly two and a half hours. For most guests we recommend Dalaman: the drive is shorter, the road is easier and the coastal stretch at the end is genuinely worth seeing in daylight.

The two airports

Dalaman (DLM)

110 km · about 1 h 30

The usual choice. Well served by direct flights from the UK and much of Europe through the summer season. The road runs inland first, then joins the coast after Patara.

Antalya (AYT)

200 km · about 2 h 30

A larger airport with more year-round and long-haul connections. Worth choosing if the flight timing or price is significantly better, or if you are travelling outside the summer season.

How to cover the last stretch

Private transfer

Door to door

The simplest option, and the one most of our guests use. We can arrange it for you before arrival — tell us your flight number and someone will be waiting at arrivals.

Hire car

Recommended if you plan to explore

A car gives you Kaputaş, Patara, Saklıkent, Kayaköy and the ancient cities at your own pace. Kalkan itself is steep and mostly pedestrian, so the car sits parked while you are in town — but for the region it is worth it.

Dolmuş and bus

Cheapest, slowest

Frequent minibuses connect Kalkan with Kaş, Patara and Fethiye. From the airports you would change at Fethiye or Antalya. Practical for short local trips rather than for arrival with luggage.

A note on timing

If you can, land in daylight. The final 40 minutes into Kalkan run along the coast, and it is one of the better drives in Turkey. Arriving after dark also makes the steep, narrow streets of the old town harder to navigate for the first time.
