Health Services in Kalkan
Kalkan has a local health centre for everyday medical needs, and several pharmacies that operate year-round. For anything more serious, the nearest full hospitals are in Kaş (27 km) and Fethiye (87 km). Nothing here is far, but it is worth knowing where things are before you need them.

Handles everyday needs: minor injuries, stomach upsets, insect bites, prescriptions and basic tests. This is the right first stop for most situations.
Pharmacies
Several pharmacies in the centre. Turkish pharmacists are qualified to advise on minor complaints, and many common medicines are available without a prescription.
Hospital in Kaş
The nearest full hospital, with an emergency department. This is where most non-routine cases from Kalkan go.
Hospitals in Fethiye
State and private hospitals with a wider range of specialists. The usual choice for planned treatment or anything requiring a specific department.
Before you travel
We recommend travel insurance for every guest, and particularly for those travelling with young children or with an existing medical condition. Turkish private hospitals generally expect payment or a direct insurance guarantee at the time of treatment.
If you take prescription medication, bring enough for the whole stay plus a few days. Bring the prescription or the generic name of the drug as well — brand names differ in Turkey, and the generic name makes a pharmacy visit much simpler.
In an emergency
The emergency number in Turkey is 112 for ambulance, fire and police. It works from any phone, including foreign mobiles, and there is English-language support.
