Where is Kalkan?
Kalkan is on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast, 87 km west of Fethiye and 27 km east of Kaş, on the stretch known as the Turquoise or Lycian Coast — where the Mediterranean and the Aegean meet. It sits right between two of the country’s best-known beaches, Kaputaş and Patara.
Coordinates and setting
The town lies at 36.25° North, 29.40° East. Behind it the Taurus Mountains rise to over 1,500 m, and the town itself is built on a steep slope running down to a small harbour. That geography is why almost every street in Kalkan has a sea view, and why the old town is walked rather than driven.

The regional capital and the second airport option for reaching Kalkan.

What Kalkan is like
Kalkan is an elegant, deliberately quiet coastal town. Strict conservation rules kept mass tourism out, so the whitewashed stone houses, the narrow alleys under bougainvillea and the rooftop terrace restaurants are not a stage set — they are what was preserved. The nightlife is relaxed rather than a party scene. The harbour comes alive in the evenings with rooftop restaurants, cocktail bars and live music in a handful of places — but it stays the kind of town where dinner runs long and nobody is in a hurry.
